It happened last Sunday morning, following the Sunday morning zoom service at Don Heights Unitarian Congregation. We were having our small \u201cbreak-out\u201d group discussion with just 6 participants, when I caught sight of the Blissymbol for \u201cfeeling, as an adjective\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The “indicator” appearing over the heart symbol denotes the grammatical category.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Feeling” appeared in the backdrop behind Peter Lister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was wondering why the symbol appeared to be layered on a \u201cgrid\u201d, but not properly positioned\u2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just had to ask Peter where the symbol came from! His response….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat symbol?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m sitting in front of a picture of a table with a checkered table cloth!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a little detective work, we discovered that the \u201cfeeling\u201d symbol was a great example of \u2018meaning being in the eyes of the beholder\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only, I, would perceive \u201cfeeling\u201d in the back of a wrought iron chair!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It could <\/em>be said that I\u2019m \u201cseeing things\u201d that aren\u2019t there. I prefer to believe that I bring the language of Blissymbolics to many aspects of my life – with enjoyment!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leads me to a great book, for anyone wishing to delve more into perception. It\u2019s one of my favourites!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
